Creating Web Graphics for Web : How to Add Gradient using Adobe Photoshop Elements

Step One: Access the Gradient Tool

To add a gradient effect to the background of your header just follow these steps:

Step 1.1: Open Photoshop Elements, then go to FILE> OPEN and choose header.psd from the “My Web Site” folder.

if you have no file saved, follow this steps: Create New File

a. Click File then select New.

b. Choose Blank File

c. Type 650 for width

d. 150 for height

e. 72 dpi for the resolution

f. Color mode RGB

g. Background Contents — White

h. Click Ok.

Step 1.2: The file will open in Elements and you will see this:

Step 1.3: Unlock the background layer.

At this time you will have one layer called “Background” and it will be locked, so you need to put your mouse on the layer itself (shown below) and double click twice quickly to turn it into an editable layer.

When you’ve double clicked on it, an options box will appear and you need to change “Layer 0″ to “background”, like this:

When it’s unlocked you will see the lock icon is now gone from next to the word “Background” in the layer menu:

If you want to add the gradient as the ONLY effect on the header then make sure you are on the layer marked BACKGROUND.

Step Two: Accessing the Gradient Tool

Now go to the TOOLBAR and select the GRADIENT tool:

That brings up the GRADIENT TOOLBAR. From here you are going to choose a PRESET GRADIENT, or CREATE YOUR OWN.

USING PRE-SET GRADIENTS:

Step 2.1: In Section 1 of the screen capture below you need to click the little down arrow to bring up the PRESET gradients.

Step 2.2: The PRESET GRADIENTS you will see the first time you open Photoshop Elements will look like this:

Step 2.3: Choose a gradient from the default list, OR click the arrow on the right hand side to bring up the OTHER gradient options.

Step 2.4: When you have the gradient selected you need to take the gradient tool and drag it from left to right (starting just outside the edge of your graphic image) or top to bottom, whatever you prefer.

TIP: Hold down the SHIFT key when you are dragging the gradient tool and you will make a nice straight gradient effect.

TIP: If you only drag partway down the image or partway across, the gradient effect will look different.

Gradient Effect from Left to Right:

Gradient Effect from Right to Left:

Gradient Effect from Top to Bottom:

Gradient Effect from Bottom to Top:

I suggest you play around with the tool a little bit to find the effect you like.

Or, if you want to experiment with using a specific gradient color scheme, go to the section below to discover how to create your own custom gradients.

Learn Graphic Designs For Websites | How To Design an Image

Great web graphics. When surfing the internet, you will see many graphical images on all websites. These are called web graphics. Categories of web graphics include buttons, bullets, animated images (texts, etc), photos, background tiles, and so much more. Each category of web graphics have sub-categories, for example web bullets have arrows, basic, prismatic, etc.

If you are looking for great web graphics to enhance your website or webpage, there are numerous sites online from where you can download these graphics. Graphic works on these sites are copyrighted, therefore, it is very important that you accept or agree to the statement outlined by each graphics creator before any downloads are made.

On the other hand, you not only can download great web graphics that are already created; you can create your personal graphics to use on your website, webpage or just for enjoyment. One way of doing this is to install graphic software or a graphic editor on your computer. The most popular ones include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe ImageReady, the Gimp, Adobe Dreamweaver, Macromedia fireworks.

If you are not willing to purchase the software, then you can make use of free text generators and online sites to create animated texts and other graphics. Text generators are mostly linked to social networks, such as MySpace, Facebook, Tagged, Hi5, etc, where members are provided with the opportunity to create their graphics and upload them to their profiles thus making them more attractive. Some of the most popular text generators and online graphics websites include Cool Text Graphics Generator on cooltext.com, pimp-my-profile.com, textspace.net, glowtxt.com, EasyGraffitiText.com, GRSites.com, jellymuffin.com and so much more.

Here is how you can create a web button using the graphic making tool found on GRSites.com:

Step 1: Choose a background texture for the button

You can choose a background texture by using various options. The first option is browsing for a texture that is in the site’s archive and following the instructions in the title bar. The second option would be to create or design your own texture by choosing the type of texture (Gradient, Procedural, Pattern and Text) and personalizing it. Thirdly, you can fetch a texture from any other website by way of a URL or retrieve one from the archive by way of its filename. If you have a texture saved on your computer, you also have the option of uploading it to use on the site.

Step 2: Select the Button’s Shape, Style, Effect and Shadow

In this step you choose the shape of your button (pill, rounded, oval, rectangle, etc); the button style (plain, shaded, 3D, metal, glass, gel, bordered, etc); button outline (none, black, bright, perspective, custom color and dark); button shadow (drop, offset, mirror under, mirror behind, under and surround) and the effect (glow, brighten, spot, emboss, etc).

Step 3: Choose the button’s width and height in pixels

You can choose the height and width that you want the button to have manually or automatically.

Step 4: Enter the button’s text, URL and Text Size

In this step, you enter the text that you want the button to reflect, the URL where you want it to appear and the size of the text and the text options.

Step 5: Choose the text and the background color

The color that you choose can be one of the general colors or a specific color.

Step 6: Choose a font

The font chosen can be plain, emboldened or in italics. The font used can be the one provided by the site, or you can retrieve one form the site’s archive, another website or upload it from your computer.

Step 7: other options

In this step, you can set the file format (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, and TIFF) and the image quality.

Best Web Graphics of all Time

The internet is now one of the world’s leading networks where you can socialize with persons you do know and those you do not know. With the increased use of the World Wide Web (web), persons are also taking advantage of great web graphics.

Web graphics refer to the animated images (whether text, photos, clip arts, icons, etc.) found on the web which make it more fun the sending and receiving of messages among users of the internet.

The bullets allow you to get your viewers of your web page to look at a particular sentence or to locate the next sentence or to allow you to sort different topics on your web page. Below are over 20 bullets that you can use on your own web pages for FREE however ensure that you read the short agreement form before putting any of our images on your web pages of thousands of the best web graphics can be found on the web. All you need to do is search the many sites that have them listed. There is approximately/ at least two websites that fall under each letter of the alphabet.

When using web graphics on your website it is very important to save them in the appropriate file format. The Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) file format should be used whenever you are adding a photograph to a website. It has the file extension .jpg and compresses the size of the photo to produce better-looking photos while at the same time making it easier and faster for users to be able to download them.

On the other hand, if you are adding logos or any other images that have no shading, the best file format to use is the GIF (.gif) format. GIF is the acronym for graphic image format. It is very unsuitable for photos or other subtle illustrations.

Some of the best web graphics can be found in the following categories:

Webpage dividers

Webpage dividers are horizontal animated images that are added to a web page to enhance the attractiveness of the website. Below are two examples of how web page dividers may appear.

Buttons

To many, these are also known as button graphics, web badges or stickers. Web buttons refer to the pictorial images that are used on the World Wide Web to advertise the specific programs, which had been used to create the host site. The size of web buttons are usually 88×31 pixels but smaller sizes are now becoming more popular, namely 80×15 pixels.

Background tiles

Background tiles refer to the images that are used on website designs and personalization of profiles on social networks, for example on Tagged. All background files are in .gif or .jpg format and are easily downloaded from the internet.

You’ve seen those pimped out PDF’s that get sent around by every affiliate, their dog AND their postman (or postwoman)? Well, I can’t guarantee you THAT exposure (although it helps if you pay .50 a download). What I CAN show you is how to PIMP OUT your very own PDF’s. That’s one of the benefits I’ve packed into the new Promo Dashboard (this one is a bonus for fast action).

It’s easier than you might imagine. There are 3 ways to do it:

1. Use Power Point — you need a special little graphic and instructions to do that. We give you the graphic and show you how.

2. Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Piece of cake. How to use it? Here’s a web graphics HTML course on basic web site design and graphics design. It’s a step-by-step simplified web page tutorial and lot of freebies.

3. Adobe InDesign — This is the pro tool for creating PDF’s. We’ll show you how to do it there too.

Here are sample graphics I whipped up. These SHOULD look familiar. Of course, the GREAT thing is, once you learn HOW to create these, you can make yours look DIFFERENT. You can change fonts, colors, shadows, add a bevel or texture, do all kinds of stuff.

Here are MORE examples of the cool graphics you can ADD to your PDF’s to PIMP ‘em out! Don’t you think having graphics like this makes your PDFs look MORE valuable? I do! And you can even do stuff like this in Open Office or Power Point if you know how! I REMOVE the learning curve, so you don’t have to pull your hair out trying to figure out HOW to do it.
