Web Design Tips And Tutorials That You Need To Know

When it comes to web design, there are certain factors that can dramatically increase your profit margin. You want to increase that as much as you can. Even if your site is for persuasion purposes, these factors still apply. Even for personal sites, you want to gain more readers. The following tips and tutorials will help you do just that.

Consistent Theme

You should have a theme that runs through your whole website from homepage down through the terms and conditions page. Wherever the visitor goes in your site, it should make him or her feel as if he or she never left. Incongruity can confuse visitors and cause them to lose trust.

To accomplish this, do these steps: (1) pick your theme, and (2) apply to all pages.

Well Chosen Colors

Colors are very important. Just one small change can mean a substantial increase in your profit margin. Each market has their color that increases trust and opens up people’s wallets. Blue is the color of professional business and it has shown to increase trust and business drastically. This is why blue suits are so popular and business requires either blue or black pen color. If you are unsure where to start, look to your competitors. What colors do you see them using? Do not copy but use them as inspiration in your design.

To do this, you can do this: (1) Research competitors and potential customers, (2) Choose appropriate color for your demographics, and (3) Pick a color theme that incorporates your chosen color.

Well Chosen Fonts

Fonts are just as important as colors. They make up a portion of your theme. By combining different fonts together, it can add variety and subtle interest to your site. Different fonts appeal to different people. You will need to do some testing to see which font type yields greater results. But do avoid using fonts that are not common. You do not want someone visiting your site and not getting the desired experience.

To do this, you can do the following: (1) Research your visitors, (2) Decide on most popular font, and (3) Choose a font family that includes the decided font.

Good Branding

If the site is for your business, it should match your branding. If your logo uses color, your site should follow that theme. You do not want your logo to stick out like it does not belong. You want everything to work together and look appealing.

Do the following to accomplish this: (1) Decide on a color theme based on your logo, if you have one, and (2) Design to make the logo fit.

Relevant Graphics

Graphics help to convey messages that text cannot. You can convey emotions through the use of relevant and well chosen images. You want to place them in a good place. You do not want your visitors to think that it was just plopped down.

To do this, you do these steps: (1) Discern the ultimate purpose of your site, (2) Find graphics that show people doing what you want your customer to do, and (3) Place them strategically throughout your site.

Cool Graphic Design Tutorial | Creating Web Graphics and Images the easy way

Web graphics refer to images of a low resolution that are created and customized for use on the internet. These images include buttons, icons, bullets, menus, animated GIF images, website layouts, and many more.

Web graphics are made using one of the many graphics software including Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, the Gimp, etc. One other software is Cool Text Graphics Generator, which is the world’s most popular text generator, since it had been uploaded to the internet in 1998.

A great partner to the Adobe Photoshop software is Adobe ImageReady. This software is a bitmap graphics editor available on computers with Mac OS X and Windows Operating System It is designed to be used by persons to quickly edit web graphics with its specialized features such as image compression and optimization, animated GIF creation, image slicing and rollover effects, and HTML generation.

Steps to creating web graphics by using the Adobe ImageReady software.

Step 1

Click on the ImageReady icon on your start menu or on the desktop to open the software. You could also use the link found in Photoshop, if that software is already in use. Another option is to use the shortcut ‘Cmd-Shift-M’ for Macintosh computers or ‘Ctrl-Shift-M’ for other PCs.

Step 2

Click on the file menu and select New to create a new document. You could also use the keyboard shortcut ‘Cmd-N’ for Macintosh computers or ‘Ctrl-N’ for personal computers.

Step 3

In the dialog box that pops up, you should enter the name that you want your document to have, select the image size and the contents of the first layer. If you are not sure, what the contents will be then the best option to choose is “Transparent”.

Step 4

At this point, you use the same tools and techniques from Photoshop, to create your graphic ImageReady. You can also make use of the toggle button at the bottom at the toolbox to toggle between Photoshop and ImageReady.

Step 5

After creating the image, you can use the slice tool to cut the image into sections and the slice selection tool to select any one of the sections. Areas that are photographic (multicolored) in nature must be compressed using GIF format by using the “Optimize” palette.

Step 6

The “Animation” and “Rollover” palettes can be used to add animation and rollover effects to your image.

Step 7

When saving your file, select “Save Optimized As” from the file menu and create a new folder for the web graphics. The file should be saved using the “HTML and Images” from the format option with the “Default Settings” and “All slices” from the slices option.

Free Web Design Tutorials | Beginner’s Web Design Tutorial

Web design does not have to be as complicated as you may think. With the right tools at hand and by following the right tutorials you will be able to create anything you set your mind to over the internet. Your only limitation will be your imagination. Below you will find some tutorials to get you started. They are geared for those who are looking into starting an ecommerce site.

How To Create Your Product Tutorial

Some people want to offer informational products that others can download after purchasing. If this is what you want to do as well, then creating your product will require just a few extra software tools. If you are writing an information ebook, then you will need a pdf printer or converter to transform your word document into a universal format that others cannot change at will. You can download PrimoPDF which is freeware and it will turn any document into a pdf. It is a very useful tool. So, the steps would be the following.

1. Write informational ebook using a word processor (MS Word, Works, Open Office).
2. Use a pdf converter to convert to this universal format.

Basic HTML Code Tutorial

If you will be designing your site by straight HTML coding, there are a few commands you must know. These are the most common ones and the ones that you will use the most.

<p> </p>: This is the paragraph tag. You will need the first one to show the beginning and the second one to show the end. An internet browser will add in the space in between paragraphs if it encounters this tag.

<center> </center>: This is to center text. Place the text you want to center in between these two.

<strong> </strong>: Use this to bold words. Place the words in between the two.

<h1> </h1>: This is a heading tag. There are several levels you can use. You can use H1, H2, H3, H4, and H5. Each has a different level of boldness and size. Of course you can change that as well.

Just knowing the above is a good start. You will be able to create a basic document online. The more you learn, the more advanced your skills can be.

#####

If you want an online tutorial that walks you through all the steps and guarantees a website that gives you results, you will want to take a look at The Design Dashboard – this will teach you how to build a sales page.

CAN’T DO WEB PAGE GRAPHICS?

Hire a Web Designer for your web graphics design but you can learn the basics and get some SKILLS going for yourself.

Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Elements releases new versions every now and then. But the basics will never be different. Really, you CAN figure it out.

If you have Photoshop CS4 it is THE SAME as CS3 or lower version as far as what we do. The ONLY difference is the change in looks.

It isn’t complicated.

You draw boxes .

You insert photos.

You add a border or shadow.

You create a gradient.

You add a pattern.

Understand layers.

Understand how to use the canvass.

Understand how to lock layers and view layers.

Know how to add a stroke on text or a graphics.

Know how to add a background image or color to a table in Photoshop.

SIMPLE, SIMPLE stuff.

That’s about all things we do in Photoshop. You could learn them in a few hours if you set your MIND to it. We use like 3% of the total abilities of Photoshop.

Here are the BASICS of Adobe Photoshop Know-How:

Open you Photoshop

Go to File > New , type in 650 W x 150 pixels H. 72 resolution, RGB, white.

Now you got yourself a header. Click the T for text. Type. Select Impact Font size 48.

Look for the Layers Options menu on the right side of photoshop window.

Click on the text layer. Click on fx button

You can add shadow and others on your headline text:

POOF! Instant gradient.

On the option window shown above, Now go to Stroke, 1 pixel, black. OK. Now you have a nice little line around your text.

Now click on Drop Shadow.
Pick one and hit OK. Now you got yourself a drop shadow.

Open a picture, select all, edit, paste into selection. Now you have a picture as a background. Decrease opacity. Control T and move it around.

Is THAT so all complicated you cannot do it?

Really, folks. It’s NOT hard.

My point is you spend all this time fearing Photoshop and thinking it’s some BIG MONSTER. And in about few minutes you can you all the basics of how to add a special effects.

You gotta know inserting type and sizing it, apply gradient, add stroke, add drop shadow.

You gotta add a pattern and pictures to the background.

I’m NOT claiming to turn you into some master Photoshop artist. But knowing the basics? You NEED to know how Photoshop works. And it’s not some huge ordeal.
