Web Design For Small Business – 5 Factors You Must Incorporate

As a small business, your web design is important to your success. Also, as a small business, you have the advantage of being able to change your website to suit your needs. You will be able to update to keep up with changing market conditions. Amidst all this change, however, there are a few constants that will always need to be in place. The content within these constants may change, but the overall needs will not change.

Ease Of Use

People will not stay if your site is not easy to use. If the navigation links are placed where it is hard to find, the average viewer will not want to stick around to figure it out. You could be losing business if navigation is not immediately obvious. Like other big sites use one-click for some transactions, you should think of ways to give your visitors a one-click solution to the information they desire.

Color To Suit Your Audience

Different audiences have different colors that move them to purchase. Do some research to find out what color moves your audience the most. In business, blue is the color because it is the one that gets professional results. If you are not sure what color to start with, blue is always a good choice. But other colors may produce better for you. Once you start getting quantifiable results, you can tweak and compare results.

SEO

SEO is important. You need to research the keywords you want to target. These need to be words that your potential clients use. Once you have your list of highly targeted terms, you need to make sure they are placed strategically in important places on your site. These places include the title, links to other pages on your site, and bolded words. While you do need to consider the importance of having your keywords for every 100 words, you do not want to write with that in mind. You still need to write with the reader in mind.

Graphics

Graphics are good, but if they are too loud, it can distract and turn people away. These should work with your carefully chosen color scheme. The topics pictures should coincide with the purpose of your site.

Purpose

When a visitor visits your site, it should be apparent within the first three seconds what the purpose is. They should know what it is that you want them to do. So, if it is for them to purchase a product from you, it should be apparent. You should not have other things besides the products to purchase to distract the viewer. If you are offering a service, you should not be offering non-relevant products.

The above five will always be important. The content that they drive, however, will change with time. You need to constantly monitor and adjust to keep up with the needs of your customers and potential customers. For everything you do, try to quantify the results as much as you can. That way you can say without a doubt that this or that change made a difference. Any positive increase in your profit margin is worth this extra effort.
